Um, the theory that Ryan Reynolds based Nicepool on Justin Baldoni could actually be true?!

Justin’s lawyer said there’s ‘no question that it relates to [him]’

So, it turns out there could be some truth in the online theory that a character in Ryan Reynolds’ newest Deadpool & Wolverine film was allegedly used to mock Justin Baldoni.

The internet recently noticed how Nicepool, played by Ryan, seemed to have characteristics associated with Justin Baldoni, including the man bun hairstyle which he wore for years. He also used lines on female body image following Justin’s alleged fat shaming of Blake Lively on the set of It Ends With Us.

Justin’s lawyer has since addressed the internet conspiracy and the similarities between the two, claiming that there is “no question that it relates to Justin.”

Deadpool & Wolverine, which premiered July last year, saw Ryan play Nicepool alongside his usual role, Deadpool. The new character had long hair and was seen with a man bun, a hairstyle which Justin wore for years until 2023.

Despite being credited as Gordon Reynolds, the actor who played Nicepool is actually Ryan Reynolds, with Blake even making a joke and thanking Gordon Reynolds in the end credits of It Ends With Us.

However, viewers also made the assumption after Nicepool also made comments about Ladypool’s physique, who was played by Blake Lively.

In the movie, Nicepool says “Oh my goodness, wait til you’ve seen Ladypool. She is gorgeous. She just had a baby, too, and [you] can’t even tell”, to which Deadpool responds: “I don’t think you’re supposed to say that.”

Nicepool responds: “That’s OK. I identify as a feminist.”

Viewers didn’t miss a beat in suggesting that the Deadpool character could have been a dig at Justin Baldoni, who has spoken publicly about women’s rights and even co-hosted a podcast about masculinity called Man Enough. Justin was also under fire recently for alleged comments he made about Blake Lively’s weight, where he was accused of “fat shaming” her when he asked her how much she weighed.

It was reported that Justin had asked his set trainer how much Blake weighed due to suffering from a back injury, and he wanted to understand how he could train to make sure he could protect his back from injury whilst still doing the scene.

And in yet another scene which didn’t make the final cut, Nicepool claims that his “calling is to one day host a podcast that monetises the women’s movement.”

In a recent interview, Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, claimed that the characteristics were connected to the It Ends With Us star, believing that there is “no question that it relates to Justin.

“I mean, anybody that watched that hair bun.”

It was also reported on Tuesday that Bryan sent a letter to Disney and Marvel bosses who directed the first Deadpool film, requesting that they preserve “any and all documents relating to the development of the ‘Nicepool’ character” and “communications relating to the development, writing, and filming of storylines and scenes featuring ‘Nicepool'”, despite them not directing the newest Deadpool & Wolverine movie.

The letter also allegedly requested “all documents relating to or reflecting a deliberate attempt to mock, harass, ridicule, intimidate, or bully Baldoni through the character of ‘Nicepool.’”

Bryan Freedman also questioned why Ryan would have used his wife’s alleged sexual harassment for comedic effect in the movie, adding: “If somebody is seriously sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of it. It’s a serious issue.”

Ryan Reynolds was contacted for comment.
