Sofía Vergara slammed for interrupting Golden Globes winner’s speech after she lost

‘Does this mean she’ll be cancelled?’

Sofía Vergara is being slammed on social media for interrupting a Golden Globes winner’s speech.

The Modern Family actress piped up from the audience after Jodie Foster won Best Actress in a Limited Series, a category Sofía was nominated for.

As Jodie was walking onto the stage to collect her award, Sofía could be heard shouting: “No, no,” and when the acting icon started her speech, she said: “Give me one,” which led to gasps and chuckles from the crowd.

Whilst it’s clear from the video that Sofía was joking with her fellow nominee, fans on social media became vocal about their disappointment in the star.

One Facebook user commented under a video of the incident, saying: “So does this mean she’ll be cancelled like Faith Hill was? lol,” whilst another added: “Why are people praising Vergara? It was Jodie’s moment.”

However, some social media users did see the funny side. Defending Sofía, one said: “[She] is really on a mission. I hope she gets another chance with another good role.”

Another responded to the video in support of the actress, writing: “Sofía is so funny, good sport.”

In the video, it appeared that Jodie did see the funny side, and when Sofía shouted: “No, no”, the Oscar winner responded saying: “I know,” and shrugged.

She also shouted out her fellow nominee, who was up for the award for Griselda, saying: “The greatest thing about being this age, and being in this time is having a community of all these people, especially you, Sofía.”

Commenters were thrilled that Jodie won, calling her “humble” and “amazing”.

This was Jodie’s 10th nomination, and fifth win at the Golden Globes. She has also been nominated for five Oscars, and has won two for her roles in The Silence of the Lambs and Accolade.
