The best (and worst) dressed at the 2025 Golden Globes, from ugly hats to curtain rail dress

The Golden Globes made one thing clear – money does not equal taste

Last night’s Golden Globes ceremony saw the best and worst dressed of Hollywood step out for a night of glitz and glam, so naturally, I’m going to be a b***h and critique the lavish outfits that cost more than my yearly salary.

Of course, as someone currently sat writing this wearing jogging bottoms and a jumper with a lunchtime stain on it, I am more than qualified to judge the fashion of last night’s Golden Globes attendees. Here are the best, the worst, and the burn it immediatelys from last night’s awards.

1. Cynthia Erivo – worst

I hate to say it – and I mean really hate to say it – but Cynthia Erivo’s custom Nicolas Ghesquière was giving me curtain rail. The annoying thing is, the dress pattern is stunning and would have worked so much better without the boxy frame breaking up the silhouette.

2. Zendaya – best

This should go without saying because Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach rarely miss. That burnt orange satin dress and accompanying diamonds made an impression on the runway, though they weren’t the diamonds people were looking at.

3. Ariana Grande – worst

I hate to do my Wicked girlies like this but if Cynthia was the curtain rail then Ariana Grande was the curtain from their hotel room. The colour was nasty, the fit was nasty, and honestly, I’m just devastated.

4. Demi Moore – best

2025 is Demi Moore’s year! Not only did she win her first Golden Globe, but in anticipation of the Academy Awards in March, she dressed as an Oscar. That’s not a read, she looked stunning from head to toe in her custom Giorgio Armani.

5. Jeremy Strong – worst

Jeremy Strong might be a five-star actor but God does not give with both hands and clearly removed some of his fashion sense. The white turtle check was a choice – and not a good one – but his look did leave me with one burning question: Has anyone ever looked good in mint green?

6. Adam Brody – best

In a world of plain black tuxedos, Adam Brody’s emerald green suit was an obvious standout. The black button detailing and white rose only added to the ensemble, and he looked mighty fine on the arm of Leighton Meester.

7. Kerry Washington – worst

I really can’t decide why I hate this so much, so I’m just going to list the things that stand out: The crumpled effect makes it look like tarpaulin, putting gloves on something does not make it elegant, if a train is tiny it’s pointless, and the earrings were just there. Ultimately, she looked like she was playing dress-up with her kids.

8. Nikki Glaser – best

Now, this is a controversial pick for best because Nikki Glaser is getting some heat online for her outfit changes and all of them being very meh. However, I just love this hazelnut latte-coloured gown from Prabal Gurung.

9. Kaley Cuoco – worst

In between the gorgeous dresses and dashing suits, Kaley Cuoco opted to dress like a random niece at someone’s wedding or Kate Middleton attending her fourth charity gala that week.

10. Daniel Craig – best

Much like a fine wine, Daniel Craig’s fashion game has gotten better with age (and that James Bond money). That velvety suit, silver fox hair, and tinted glasses have me jealous of Drew Starkey in 2024’s Queer.

11. Elle Fanning – worst

I love some animal print as much as the next queer, but if there’s a way to do it, it’s not like Elle Fanning. The custom Pierre Balmain gown is a recreation of a classic silhouette, but I agree with Twitter’s comments about her being “too pale” for that shade of beige. Like most things, it would have been better in black.

12. Andrew Garfield – best

Not only did he become a Golden Globes meme sensation, but Andrew Garfield was serving c**t every step on that red carpet. The loose-fitting khaki suit was perfection, and that flash of chest is now my laptop screensaver. Thank you, Golden Globes!

11. Timothée Chalamet – worst

Before Bob Dylan fans slide into my DMs I do get the vision, but the execution just isn’t there. The scarf is pretentious, the suit is bland, and that’s to say nothing of the moustache. As I too have learned, if you struggle to grow facial hair then just shave it off.

How did Kylie Jenner let her man go out like this?
