Hold on, did Dean just throw shade at I’m A Celeb following his exit on Sunday?

After he was kicked from the Australian jungle in Sunday night’s instalment of I’m A Celeb, everyone’s least favourite contestant Dean McCullough offered his two cents on the experience on Instagram.

DJ Dean has been one of the more controversial contestants this year, with fighting with Alan Alan Halsall being only one part of what makes him 2024’s villain. Though it was a close call between him and Barry McGuigan, Dean ultimately got the chop on Sunday.

“I have really, really soaked up this whole experience. All the trials, you know, the things that I’ve feared, got stuck in at camp, done a bit of everything and I’ve really, really, really enjoyed it,” he told Ant and Dec after his exit. “Life is better when it’s simpler. You really don’t need to be on your phone all the time… You can literally just sit in the moment and watch what’s going on around you.”

After his shock exit, Dean retrieved his phone and jumped immediately on Instagram with a fun take on a viral Gemma Collins sound. Here’s to hoping he hasn’t checked Twitter yet as it might ruin his stay at the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort.

“He was ready to get out of there #imaceleb #TeamDean #DeanOftheJungle,” the post was captioned, with the third-person nature of the post suggesting it was Dean’s team that posted it.

The video itself showed Dean in his hotel room in shorts and a tank top as he hurriedly packed his belongings and wheeled his suitcase towards the door. Of course, the skit was set to the iconic Gemma Collins moment: “I ain’t staying here. Sorry, I love ya, but I ain’t staying here.”

For those of you unaware, the memeable moment came in Gemma Collins: Diva Forever when she was visiting a caravan park and was less than pleased to be there.

The gag was undoubtedly meant to be light, but I can’t help but notice the subtle air of shade surrounding the post, after all, it was only last week when he was making similar comments in complete seriousness.

Dean’s Instagram was filled with positivity despite controversy

Though both Twitter and Instagram were flooded with anti-Dean comments during his stint on I’m A Celeb, his comment section was shockingly void of the snide remarks that have been associated with him. Perhaps Dean’s final moments on the show reversed some of the damage done by his earlier comments.

One person wrote: “So happy for you @thedeanlife. We loved watching you and your one-liners were very LOL. Sending big hugs from Belfast to you and your mummy.”

“My ultimate fave for literally YEARS, wanted him to win!!! how he can not have stayed in is beyond me. Comedy gold,” another said.

Someone else said: “Gonna miss you @thedeanlife you made the show for me. It wi be pretty boring now i reckon. Prob won’t tune it with dedication like I did. Well done you smashed it. You deserve all the best now.”
