Clifton to host lifesaving event for blood cancer patients

All you have to do is spit in a tube

A stem cell registration event is being held by Anthony Nolan in support of Trent cricketer Zac Forskitt following his recent diagnosis of Leukaemia and germ cell tumour.

The event will take place in the Pavilion on Clifton campus on Thursday 22nd October from 10am-3pm in the hope of potentially finding a lifesaving match for blood cancer patients including Zac to enable them to have a stem cell transplant should they need one.

Harriet Clarke is friends with the Trent cricketer from their home town back in Northampton and is also a student at Trent.

She said, “I think this event is so important as it’s so easy to get onto the stem cell register and this will hopefully get a lot more people on there from just one event.

“People can help others who are in need as you never know who might be affected by blood cancer who’s close to you.

“It will mean so much to Zac and others as something positive is coming from a bad situation and it’s an extremely worthy cause.”

Over 500 people have shown their support and clicked ‘going’ on the ‘Give a Spit: Anthony Nolan Stem Cell Registration’ Facebook event.

The family that is Trent Cricket

Zac is one of thousands of blood cancer patients in the UK who rely on stem cell donors of a particular match to them in order to beat the life-threatening disease.

To become a potential match and lifesaver, you simply fill out an application form and spit in a tube.

Zac’s Just Giving page is still smashing the £300 target and is currently on over £4,500 worth of donations.
