21-year-old in ‘serious condition’ after assault in the city centre

It happened early this morning

A 21-year-old man is in a serious condition after an assault on Upper Parliament Street early this morning.

The attack is thought to have happened at around 3:45am and the man remains at Queen’s Medical Centre.

The street, along with King’s Walk and Trinity Walk, have since been cordoned off and a forensic team have been investigating the pavement.

Third year history and politics student Michael McAllister lives on Upper Parliament Street and said: “I literally heard nothing, my flat mate woke me up this morning and made me look out the window.

“It’s a bit weird seeing it outside your flat when you wake up.”

His flatmate Gerry Hamilton said: “I was mortified. I’m petrified to go out.”

A cordon has been set up while forensic officers in white suits comb the area.

No arrests have been made and police have asked anyone with information to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 63 of April 15.
