Business lecturer chucked off tram and fined

She was charged 50 smackers

A bewildered business lecturer was left red faced after getting kicked off a rush hour tram despite having an annual pass.

Vicky Palmer was escorted off the tram, into the rain, on Friday afternoon despite having purchased a £500 annual tram pass, allowing her unlimited travel daily for the year.

When the ticket inspector came around, his machine read Miss Palmer’s ticket as invalid even though she had swiped it numerous times before stepping onto the tram.

The inspector then removed her at the next stop and slapped her with a £50 charge.

The business lecturer said: “I felt, shocked, humiliated and victimised because when I tried to explain what had happened and they said they could not accept my response.”

“Outside in the rain I was shaking and they asked me for ID so they could issue the £50 fine, despite me having already paid £500. It is so unjust.”

This is not the first time the new trams have caused trouble, just last month a disabled student was made to get off and walk due to ticket confusion.
