Varsity hatred kicks off early for this year’s freshers
The freshers haven’t even unpacked their bags yet and already the rivalry between our two unis has begun and this time they started it
This weekend saw the arrival of thousands of bright eyed freshers, but before this term had even begun the classic Nottingham rivalry had already started.
Just last week a brave uni of first year posted on their freshers page, “Fuck Nottingham Trent, am I right?”
This unprovoked attack lead to Trent fresher legend, Connor O’Donnell, posting ‘Fuck Uni of Nottingham, am I right?!” on one of our Freshers pages.
But says he only did it because they did it first.
The soon to be politics student said: “Someone in the NTU Freshers page had posted a screen cap from the Uni of Nottingham Freshers and they’d posted ‘Fuck Trent, am I right’, so I decided it was time for retaliation.
“You know, they fired first. I feel like the Han Solo of Trent right now.”
The post then went on to get over 200 likes and dozens of comments which is not the reaction Connor was expecting.
He said: “I was expecting a laugh here and there, but it got around 200 likes, so I guess a lot of people enjoy the friendly rivalry.
“Others thought it was a genuine attack on Uni of, they took it a bit too seriously when it’s only a joke, which I thought was even funnier.”
In classic UoN style, the ponces across the city then went on to call Trent students “a joke”.
When asked if he had a message for our rivals, Connor said: “I’ll take some inspiration from Gandalf. The battle of Facebook is over, but the war of Nottingham has just begun.”
