The Times have released their higher education guide for 2016 and Stirling has ranked in the top 200 universities in Europe.

The European rankings have been made up using the same methodology as the World rankings guide, ranking universities on teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Stirling ranked in the top 200 and nudged its way into the ranking of the 171st-180th best universities in the continent.

Elsewhere on the rankings, Oxford and Cambridge continue to occupy the first and second spots on the table. Other Scottish universities earned rankings on the table with Edinburgh ranking seventh and Glasgow 28th. St Andrews continued to be one of the best universities in the world by ranking 35th.

Also above Stirling were Aberdeen in 85th and Dundee in 94th.

Notable exceptions to the list were innovative institutions such as Strathclyde, Edinburgh Napier and Heriott-Watt.
