As you rise and the dizziness descends you are hit with the stifling reality that you may have had one too many shots at Fubar. You consider how to avoid the inevitable, and crave greasy, salty, delicious food without any of the hassle of making it.

Toast, on Forthside Way (next to Nando’s), serves good value breakfast and lunch with an Italian twist. A little small but perfectly formed, Toast serves food that would cure any hangover.

With a view towards the Wallace Monument you can’t help but reflect on life, or your mistakes from the previous night. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and with bar seating along the window, dining on your own is perfectly acceptable.

The menu includes the obligatory breakfast, but if you want to be adventurous you could try one of their delicious wraps, burgers, or salads.

The French toast served with syrup is a firm favourite; add bacon and you’re on the road to recovery.

The coffee is good enough if you need your fix. Toast has an open kitchen so there’s nothing to hide. You can even sit outside if you require more peace and quiet to calm your sore head.
