Will and Kate head to NYC to fundraise for St Andrews
They didn’t forget about us!
On Tuesday, 9 December, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the University of St Andrews 600th Anniversary Gala Benefit in New York.
Funds raised from the event will be used by St Andrews for under-privileged student scholarships, new sports facilities, improvements in the medical and science faculties, and a new American Literature lectureship.
The Royals will spend three days in The States, attending events in support of a variety of charities with the St Andrews Gala being the grand finale. This is the couple’s first trip to New York. Their most recent visit to the U.S. was to California in 2011.
According to a tweet from The BBC’s Peter Hunt, the royal couple’s trip will be funded by public money, the 600th Anniversary Campaign, and the University. Once costs are paid, St Andrews anticipates raising a ‘seven-figure sum’ for University projects.
Tickets to the event, which is being held at the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art, range from $2,500 to $100,000. Guests will enjoy a reception, dinner and live auction.
Here’s hoping the Royals can charm our American cousins into feeling generous.
