The infamous travelator – an important crossing from Badlands to central St Andrews, as well as many students’ only exercise for the day – has been barred access by a natural disaster this morning.

The persistent rain, beginning at around 7pm on Thursday night and continuing into Friday morning, has flooded the stream (now resembling a small river) that runs alongside Kinnessburn.

There have been reports of cancelled tutorials from students across the university, as tutors struggle to get into St Andrews: ‘I woke up an hour early to prepare for my 9am tutorial this morning,’ said 2nd year Alexi Clark, ‘I’m extremely disappointed I missed out on that extra hour’s sleep…’

Drivers across North East Scotland are being warned not to venture onto roads unless absolutely necessary. The Met Office has given Fife a ‘yellow’ alert and forecasts have predicted an average of almost a month’s worth of rainfall over the next 48 hours.

Expand Vice-President is in a state of disarray: ‘I have an outdoor cooking session tomorrow on West Sands… instead of cooked fish, they’ll be jumping back into the water!’
