From Rose and Crown to Oz-Bar, here is the best pub golf route in Notts

We’ve sorted the route, grab your club and get going

| UPDATED

Pub golf is a great excuse to drink lots and dress up, two of our favourite things as students, so it is obligatory to do pub golf at least once during your time at uni. We have made a Notts pub golf route for you below to follow to save the hassle of planning one yourself. If you know your golf, pub golf will make a lot more sense to you but even if you don’t it is simple enough. Here’s how it works:

1. Pick your pubs and assign each one a drink: this step is super easy as we’ve already done it for you! The route can consist of either nine or eighteen “holes’,’ but lets be real we are students on a budget, so nine is a lot more feasible.

2. Get your outfits ready, a golf cap is compulsory. Think argyle sweaters, skorts, polo shirts. Grab an inflatable golf club if you want to be extra. Luvyababes is your best friend when it comes to your outfits as they have a section in the store dedicated to pub golf costumes.

3. Start the game. At every bar you have one drink, the whole group has the same unless it is a drink of choice. Each bar will have a certain par. The par will be the number of drinks/sips/gulps that are required for you to finish the drink.

4. Once you have finished your drink you record how many sips it took you to complete it, even better if you can do so below par. Then, move onto the next pub.

5. The player or team, if you decide to play in groups, with the lowest score after the nine ”holes” wins. The loser can also complete a forfeit of your choice.

You can also add some additional penalties to the game, here are some examples:

  • Water Hazard- this means you cannot go to the toilet in the bar that this rule is applied to, if you do a point will be added to your score.
  • Slip Up- add two points if you fall over at any point.
  • Ball drop- add two points for any spillages.
  • Chunder- this one is simple, don’t be sick. If you do have to tacky chunder, add two points.

There are plenty more penalties you can add and you can personalise them for your group.

Our Nottingham route:

As Notts has so many pubs and bars there are endless possibilities and drinks combinations you can decide on, but to save you time here is one we have come up with.

1.Rose and Crown

Par: 3

Drink: Prosecco.

Start how you mean to go on. Classy, always.

2. Sheaves

Par: 3

Drink: Pint

Sheaves couldn’t not make the cut and par 3 for a pint is definitely doable. Easy chance for a hole in one.

3. Sir John Borlase Warren

Par: 3

Drink: Drink of choice

WATER HAZARD! This means no toilet trips or points will be added.

4. Raglan Road

Par: 5

Drink: Drink of choice and a shot

You can decide on a set shot or let people have their pick.

5. Goosebury bush

Par: 3

Drink: Glass of wine

Mixing up the route with a bit of UoN and a bit of Trent to get the best of both worlds. Also, a spoons is a must add to the list as it is cheap.

6. Route One

Par: 4

Drink: VK and a shot

Great deals on VKs here, no brainer.

7. Penny Lane

Par: 4

Drink: Cocktail

We added this one to mix it up a little for the non beer drinkers. It’s also a great chance to have a quick game stop.

8. Bierkeller

Par: 3

Drink: Pint

A great place to dance on the benches and work off the alcohol, that’s if you can still stand.

9. Oz bar

Par: 5

Drink: Vodka and mixer and a VK

Oz bar is cheap and cheerful and has great deals on both drinks and VKs, so of course we broke the rules a little here and picked both.

Then, if you can hack it head to the club, you could even substitute one of these out and make a club your final hole.

This is just one route in Notts but there are so many options and drinks can also easily be interchangeable. For example, if you all like beer each pub could be a different pint. The pars are also just a guideline and lots of the drinks can be downed in one.

There is no excuse now, get your cap on and have an un-fore-getable night!
