Man run over outside Village

It’s unknown if he’s at UEA


A 22-year-old man has been run over outside the university Village.

Police were called to Earlham Road at 7.39pm on Friday 21st November following reports of an accident.

The man is said to have suffered non-serious head injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Second year Ali Shabir said: “I was walking to the University around 8pm and I saw flashing lights as I was walking up Wilberforce Road.

“As I got near the top I saw flashing lights and the police were diverting traffic, and they blocked both Earlham Road and the University Drive.

“On the corner at the top of the University Drive a young male was lying on the ground surrounded by police and paramedics. There were two police cars and one ambulance.

“When I walked back at around 9pm one police car was still there.”

A spokesperson for Norfolk Constabulary said: “A car (a silver Vauxhall Astra) and a pedestrian were involved.

“Earlham Road was closed whilst emergency services attended and was re-opened around 10.30pm.”

They were unable to confirm if the victim is a UEA student.
