UoM ranks 38 places above Man Met in Complete University Guide 2021 league table

UoM was ranked 17th nationally, whereas Man Met was joint 54th

The University of Manchester was ranked 17th nationally by The Complete University Guide, who released their university league tables and rankings for 2021 today.

21 UoM subjects were ranked in the top 10 in the UK, including Nursing, Physics & Astronomy and History.

Not only was UoM ranked more highly than Man Met, it placed 6 places above Newcastle, 16 places above Liverpool and a massive 75 places above Salford.

Manchester has dropped two places this year, being overtaken by Bristol and Edinburgh. Leeds, having also dropped two places this year, remains one place ahead of Manchester.

In terms of student satisfaction, however, Manchester ranks 103rd, which is 7 places lower than last year. Man Met on the other hand ranks 48th in terms of student satisfaction, which begs the question, why are students at Man Met significantly more satisfied than those at UoM?

UoM also ranks in the top 10 in terms of academic services spend, placing 8th, which remains unchanged from last year.

The list of UoM subjects placing in their respective top tens nationally are as follows: Italian, Drama, Dance & Cinematics, Music, American Studies, Aural & Oral Sciences, Nursing, Linguistics, Russian & East European Language, Optometry, Ophthalmology & Orthoptics, East & South Asian Studies, English, Middle Eastern & African Studies, Computer Science, German, Anthropology, Materials Technology, Dentistry, Physics & Astronomy, History, History of Art, Architecture & Design, and French.
