Up-and-coming entrepreneur and Liverpool student Stuart Brown, is launching the UK University Poker League, bringing students together from across the country to call each other’s bluff.

On 27 January, the UK University Poker League (UKUPL) will be ready to host its first online poker league.

New members will be welcomed for the first time, giving both novices and experts the chance to take part in this exciting new tournament.

The project aims to bring together poker players from universities nationwide.

Games will initially take place online, but Stuart hopes to host live events. Stuart found an interesting comparison done of the online casinos games and is choosing the best one for everyone to play on. Weekly tournaments will cost just £3.30 per week to enter. The league will consist of 15 games per season, giving the winner and their society the chance to win big. For the more casual player, there are 24 hour practice tables available, along with low-stakes games.

Most importantly, students will keep all prizes won, good news as the “prize pots are going to be massive.”

A live poker event, where players will have the opportunity to play one another face to face, is provisionally set to be held in Manchester.

For the more discerning poker player there will be the opportunity to purchase VIP packages ranging from £10-£90. These will allow players to get to the tables early, have discounted buy-ins and at the pricier end of the packages, even get free drinks.

Stuart has pledged he will reinvest money back into student societies. He believes student societies exist on a “minuscule budget,” and would seek to use his success to help other university societies be equally successful.
