Here are all the best places in Lincoln for a picnic in the park

It is Spring after all

Since March 8th we have been able to meet up with one other person outside of our household. Meaning we could spice up our lockdown walks by meeting with one other friend for a picnic or a coffee on a park bench. The West Common has likely been filled with even more students than usual since the Spring solstice, and who can blame them? The day the sun rays begin shining across Lincoln without a chance of rain, sunglasses are on and we’re all ready to go.

As of today, the day six people or two households will be allowed to meet up outside or in a private garden. So get your housemates at the ready, or if you don’t vibe with them, five other friends, and head over to one of the many parks or commons in Lincoln for tinnies in the park.

“Which park though?” I hear you ask, and I am here to tell you the best ones to take in the sun and enjoy an M&S or Sainsbury’s gin and tonic to really get the vibes going.

The West Common (obviously)

This is one of the most obvious choices for drinks in the park and it’s such a big place, I don’t blame you. You don’t want to try anything new and I respect that. West Common is likely to be filled with people who have the same idea, so be sure to social distance from other groups who all just want to take in those sun rays and get a bit squiffy on the grass.

Liquorice Park

If you can make it all the way up those steps, Liquorice Park is one the quietest places to sit and chill out with your pals to have some drinks and overlook the view of Lincoln while you’re at it. It is so peaceful if you just want a bit of one-to-one time between you and your friends, especially more so since you probably haven’t seen them since December.

Get some picnic essentials, a pack of ciders, and walk up those steps for a peaceful get-together in the sun.

The Arboretum

Lincoln’s Arboretum is one of the most gorgeous parks that Lincoln has to offer. Just off of Monks road, the arboretum is 22 acres and is home to two ponds and A LOT of trees.

It is the perfect place for a picnic and drinks with your pals, and the cutest blossom trees to up your Instagram game.

Your back garden!

If you don’t want to leave the house, your back garden is the second best option. Grab an instant barbecue and some bevs and in this weather, you’ll be having the time of your life.

You may only be allowed to be with five other people or one other household but the vibes will still be there and that’s all you need in a time like this.
