Leeds University ranked only 21st in latest league table

That’s behind Leeds Trinity

The University of Leeds has been ranked 21st in the National Student Survey, behind Leeds College of Art in 8th place and Leeds Trinity University at 11th.

This year’s National Student Survey was highly controversial with the National Union of Students calling for a boycott of the survey in protest of the ‘teaching excellence framework’ and the government’s plan for higher education.

The boycott has led some people to doubt the accuracy of the results, with the University itself urging caution over the results.  Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Tom Ward said, ““While these results specifically, and the development of the NSS more generally are both welcome, the changes to the question sets and the boycott by some students’ unions make direct comparison with previous years difficult.”

Over 300,000 students took the survey across the UK. The overall course satisfaction rating was 89% – tied with other universities like Durham, Birmingham, Nottingham Trent and Glasgow.

Leeds Beckett University was much farther down the list, ranked at 110th with a satisfaction rating of 82%. Overall, the University of Buckingham, the Royal Veterinary College and the University of St Andrews came 1st with a satisfaction rating of 94%, while the Glasgow School of Art came last in 151st place with a ranking of only 71%.
