London-style darts night comes to Leeds

There’s also going to be a varsity darts match

Leeds Darts Series, a night of “dancing, drinking and darts”, comes to the O2 Academy on Friday 11th March.

The night will have a varsity darts match, and will feature Leeds local Aden Kirk, a 24-year-old professional darts player who rose to fame after knocking out Phil “the power” Taylor.

Rob Eades, third year Business Management student at the University of Nottingham, and event organiser, told The Tab: “The concept is similar to the big darts events that are held in London but with much more of a party atmosphere.

“The night kick starts at 8pm and there’s a varsity match on stage between players from the University of Leeds & Beckett University – things will get very competitive.

“Then there’s the professionals, Aden Kirk will be going head to head with Colin Osborne, a world championship player.

“In between the rounds it’s basically a big party with loads of discounted drinks as well live performances. The tables in the stalls always prove very popular and these are reserved through the event page.”

Darts Series was started in Nottingham, by students who “wanted something a little bit different from a night out”.

Rob continued: “It went so well, selling out pretty much instantly, that we’ve decided to take it around the country.

“The event page is live and we’ve sold over 50 per cent of the tickets on the first day, so this is selling even better than the Nottingham one.”

The event page can be found on Facebook here.
