Two men who allegedly robbed two security guards and attempted to empty an ATM have been remanded in custody.

Ian Porter, 46, and Spencer Benjamin, 43, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court this morning after being charged with mugging the two security guards as they were loading a cash machine.

The masked middle-aged men are accused of threatening the security guards by holding them at gunpoint as they refilled the ATM with cash.

The supposed thieves nicked a box containing money and then tried to escape in a grey Vauxhall Insignia in the direction of Upper Parliament Street.

Neither defendant entered a plea.

The case has been transferred to Liverpool Crown Court where Porter and Benjamin will appear at a preliminary hearing on August 4th.
