Glasgow student passes away after car crash on University Avenue

Our thoughts are with her family and friends

On Tuesday afternoon, a 24-year-old studying at the Glasgow International College, which is a precursor to the University of Glasgow for foreign students, was hit by a car on University Avenue.

She was treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but yesterday she sadly passed away after spending two days fighting for her life in 'critical condition'.

The University of Glasgow has offered support to the woman's family and friends.

A spokeswoman at the University of Glasgow said: "We are deeply saddened that a student at our partner institution, Glasgow International College, has died as a result of a road traffic accident on Tuesday.

"We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, and are doing all that we can to work with police on understanding the circumstances of the incident."

Police are still looking for any potential witnesses, and have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward. If you were a witness to the incident, you can assist the police by getting in contact with them here.
