EUSC run through campus ‘naked’ for charity

There was an open day going on at the time

Clad in Peppa Pig armbands, Hello Kitty goggles and inflatables (swimming related ones, naturally) Exeter University’s Swim club did a partially naked run for their chosen charity this year, MIND.

All in the run up to varsity on Saturday, the event was a massive success. MIND is a charity that is close to many of the swimmers’ hearts, helping young people with mental illnesses.

Swimmers at the Ready!

The run began at the Sports Park – where pretty much all of the hockey players (as their varsity was taking place) and spectators watched the swimmers dress in costumes and trunks.

From here, and ignoring the extremely painful chafing, the swim team continued their quest down Forum Hill and through the very busy forum. The run fortuitously coincided with an open day.

Blowing whistles and strutting their stuff, pre fresh looked shocked, as did their very confused and disgruntled parents, probably questioning if Exeter is the right choice for their darling children.

Selfie central

We then continued past a load of locals, all shielding their kid’s eyes and many asking what the fuck was going on, and then to the cathedral for a quick pit stop. After a ton of selfies, a quick rearrange of armbands and tugging of costumes from awkward places the swimmers arrived at their destination, the Holy Grail that is St. Lukes. Here a massive water balloon fight commenced and an epic game of water polo to celebrate too.

You can show your support for the swimmers here.

Everyone should always remember that swimmers pull faster, stroke harder and dive deeper.
