Forget Val Thorens, Exeter will soon be covered in snow

Sledge race down Forum Hill anyone?

Exeter is set to see snow for the first time in two years.

The Met Office, who are based within Exeter, have predicted a turn in the mild and wet weather as of next Wednesday.

A new weather system moving in will create icy temperatures overnight, bringing with it the possibility of snow fall.

The last time Exeter saw snow was January 2013 when heavy snow persisted for 10 days over parts of the UK.

They said: “There is now an increased signal for a brief much colder spell around the middle of next week with widespread overnight frosts.

“There is likely to be a mixture of sunshine and showers, with the showers falling as sleet or snow to low levels in the north, and perhaps also in the south.

“There are indications of some longer dry spells later in January and for the start of February. Temperatures through this period should be near or a little above average for most areas, but further cold spells are possible.”

Watch your step on Cardiac Hill. With colder and icier spells forecast, time to get the heating on and hope the second-hand boiler your landlord found on eBay won’t pack in.
