Luxury ‘student’ living

Premium student accommodation unveils show apartment.

Located on Longbrook Street, new student accommodation set to open this year is key for pre-drinks, queueing for Timepiece and nipping to subway mid-essay meltdown… But it’s certainly less than ideal for your bank balance.

Following high demand (it seems not everyone is content with Mount Pleasant or Union Road), Vita Student development company has opened its show apartment at Portland House and it is seriously snazzy.

Each studio apartment boasts a flat screen TV, en-suite bathroom, fitted kitchen and appliances, top of the range Wifi and of course a vital double bed… Not to mention access to the ‘hub’ areas for relaxation and studying, oh, and an exclusive gym.

It’s certainly an upgrade from the likes of old Lafrowda…

The site opened bookings for its 156 apartments in January, with over 65% being currently taken, leaving them on-track to hitting full capacity/rolling in dough.

Approximately 70% of tenants are from overseas, with most of them going into second year and above, so no silly fresh hanging around the place… Ideal.

Managing Director of Vita Student Management, Gavin Duncan, said: ‘The level of demand we have received from students is overwhelming and it demonstrates that we are catering for a real gap in the market and providing students with the style of accommodation that they are increasingly looking for.”

So, if living in a mould ridden cesspit isn’t for you, then you may have to dig a little deeper than your student loan, either that or rely on the bank of ‘Mama and Papa’ of course!
