A new craze is spreading over Britain: Yarnbombing.

Exeter awoke on Wednesday morning to discover it had been Yarnbombed.

The phenomenon – a cross between graffiti and knitting – saw the cities’ benches, statues and buses covered with knitted sleeves and cosies overnight.
The trend originated in the US and is beginning to spread to Britain, with Exeter’s branch of the cosy craze being carried out by the Make, Do and Mend Ladies, in celebration of their 3rd birthday.

The community based project claims to “bring like minded people together with a vintage feel,” and its members got involved by dressing statues with hats and scarves, throwing blankets over statues and even covering a disused bus with colorful swatches.
