Anti-terror barriers installed in Edi before the start of the Fringe

The security measures have been put on the Royal Mile

| UPDATED

Queues at the Fringe Festival are infamously long and this summer festival-goers are going to have to be even more patient than before due to new anti-terror barriers.

The additions to the Mile are to quash the possibility of vehicles driving into crowds, as seen in the Westminster attack earlier this year.

The preventative measures have been deemed necessary while the UK's terror level remains "severe". Police Scotland have said that there's been no intelligence to suggest a planned attack on the capital.
