It’s official: Edinburgh University harder to get into than Glasgow

We came 9th overall in the UK

Data from the Times’ Good University Guide,  has revealed that Edinburgh University is the ninth hardest university to get into, based on average expected UCAS points.

According to UCAS, an A* is worth 140, an A 120, a B 100, a C 80 and a D 60 at A-level. At AS-level, an A is worth 60, a B 50, a C 40 and a D 30.

Edinburgh, asking an eye-watering 487 UCAS points of prospective freshers, sits just behind Warwick by three points, with Cambridge and Oxford unsurprisingly taking the top spots.

Edinburgh is the second hardest university to get into in Scotland, being beaten by St Andrews, who on average demand 524 points. Glasgow came in third in Scotland at 478 points, followed immediately by Strathclyde on 476.

Forget all the league tables, we all know where we’d rather be at uni, really.
