Meet the models: CCFS 2019

With DUCFS around the corner, fashion show season is officially underway. On the 17th of February these Castle models will strut their stuff in aid of Papyrus, a charity working towards the prevention of young people committing suicide. Papyrus seeks to equip young people and communities with the skills they need to challenge the stigma around mental health as well as helping others with dealing with suicidal behaviour.

This year’s theme is “the way it was,” taking a look at the boldest and best fashion trends of the last hundred years.

With tickets now on sale, its time to meet the Castle models.

What’s the most exciting part about being in the fashion show?

The atmosphere – I did the show a couple of years ago and the vibe is electric with everyone in the Great Hall, lit by all the flashing lights and surrounded by amazing music when you’re strutting down the catwalk

Comments about Papyrus?

In a world where people are more connected than ever, but feel more alone than ever, Papyrus is essential in helping people who are struggling with suicidal thoughts by offering support not only to those suffering with suicidal thoughts, but also to those living with people who are suffering. Suicide can take a second, but lasts a lifetime.

Thoughts about Papyrus?

I think we can often take it for granted how lucky we are in a college system to have immediate support systems that young people at different universities or not at university don’t have access to. That’s why I think it is so important to have charities like Papyrus who offer confidential advice.

Thoughts on Papyrus?

Considering suicide is the biggest killer of young people within the UK, I think it’s so important that we talk about it and raise as much awareness as possible. I’m so happy CCFS this year has chosen Papyrus as their charity, as the fashion show is a huge event within college it means we can help raise awareness and let students know support is their if they need it.

I was unaware that suicide was the biggest killer among young people in the UK but I think it is amazing that Papyrus is brining awareness to the horrific statistics.
