New Year, New Podcast? YCA is back and better than ever

Wow. It’s been a while since the last column and it seems as if the optimism for Lent term that we ended our last podcast with has been somewhat crushed. Nevertheless, we’re determined to help you feel a little less alone during these increasingly ~unprecedented~ times, whether that be through answering your calls for advice, or providing a minor source of auditory entertainment for you to listen to when taking a much-needed break from your supo work.

Last term, Leila and Xanthe wrote eight columns and produced four podcasts giving you advice on topics ranging from managing your workload to navigating the world of romance in a Covid-Cambridge term. We thought that we may have exhausted the topics of uni life during Covid, but that was before a (third?) national lockdown got thrown in our face. With this partially remote term and increased restrictions, we’re perhaps all in need of advice and support more than ever before and Your College Aunts are going to do their very best to help you out.

And that’s why the theme for Week One and Week Two is: “New Term, New Me?” We want to hear your worries about starting this term under these circumstances and try to help ease some of the stress and anxiety of the current moment. You can anonymously submit your worries and questions here and Your College Aunts will answer them, either in the weekly column, or the biweekly podcast- how exciting!

A new format?

As dedicated column-readers and podcast-listeners will know, the lovely Xanthe has hung up her advice-giving hat for the moment being and, as a result, we have some new additions to the podcast and column. The lovely Amira has stepped into Xanthe’s shoes for weekly column writing, whilst Leila will continue to host the bi-weekly podcast alongside a new guest every episode. This term we want to broaden the perspectives on the podcast, as well as the topics of discussion.
