Tinchy Stryder looks set to headline this year’s Clare May Ball while Jakwob has also revealed he’ll play Robinson.

Tinchy Stryder revealed on his Myspace that he will play Clare’s “Curiouser & Curiouser” themed Ball on Monday 20th June. It seems likely that the East London rapper will be ‘Number 1’ at the Ball.

Clare have a reputation for securing some of the best entertainment, with Faithless and Tinie Tempah headlining last year’s May Ball. Feeder, The Holloways, The Young Knives, and British Sea Power have also all performed at the event in the past.

But Clare’s organisers are remaining tight lipped about the exact details of the line up. May Ball Ents Officer Ed Bentsi told The Tab: “Obviously there are a lot of rumours circulating about Clare May Ball’s headliner. Whilst we can’t confirm or deny any of these rumours we can guarantee a night of great musical entertainment from a number of outstanding acts.”

Tinchy Stryder’s hits include: ‘Never Leave You’ and ‘Number 1’, both of which topped the charts. His new song ‘Spaceship’, which features N-Dubz’s Dappy, will be released on 12th June, just over a week before his gig at Clare.

David Byrne, a 1st Year NatSci at Clare told The Tab: “It’s set the bar pretty high, and it’ll be interesting to see whether the pricier balls can match such a big name.”

Tom Breeze, a Clare English student agreed, saying: “I’m Not Alone in thinking Clare’s May Ball will be Number 1 and it’s Game Over for St. John’s”

Dubstep merchant Jakwob also announced on his Myspace that he’ll be playing Robinson May Ball, although he struggled with the spelling of the college.

Jakwob, who headlined St John’s Dance tent last year, will be playing the main stage at Robinson, but Robinson’s Ents Officer Aron Solomons said he wouldn’t be the headliner.

Solomons told The Tab: “We’re very excited to have Jakwob. He played on Varsity and he was very good. He’s a top DJ and we’ve got plenty of other great acts coming up.”
