Sub-zero temperatures will hit Brum next week, with snow predicted for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

According to the Met Office, temperatures will plummet as winds from Scandinavia sweep through the city.

The cold winds are likely to cause snow fall – just in time for the first week of term.

Expect scenes like this

Leon Brown, the Chief Forecaster at The Weather Channel in Birmingham, said: “The rest of January will be a lot colder with below average temperatures.

“Saturday will be a washout and it will be much brighter and mainly fine on Sunday.

“However, early next week the colder Arctic winds will move south with sleet and snow showers for parts of the Midlands by Tuesday.

“Temperatures will drop below zero at night and not rising much above freezing by day.”

Time to check those Selly boilers and wrap up in your onesies – winter is coming.
