Here’s everything you need to know about Margot Robbie’s husband Tom Ackerley
He’s actually not just Ken
Margot Robbie has had so many career achievements this year: featuring in West Anderson’s Asteroid City, starring in Barbie (the highest grossing female-made film in history) with a producing credit, and producing Saltburn (the most divisive film of 2023) that it’s easy to completely forget about her private life— as we should.
But when Margot stepped out with her husband Tom Ackerley at the 2024 Golden Globes in Los Angeles on Sunday night, the whole of Twitter collectively had the same reaction: “Wow, I love her dress and – wait – who?”
So, in case you’re also curious about Margot’s husband Tom Ackerley – who actually played a big part in Barbie’s production – here’s everything you need to know about the man who’s much more than Ken to get back in the loop:

Margot has been with Tom since 2014 after they met on the set of Saul Dibb’s film Suite Française. Two years later in December 2016, they got married at a really private ceremony in Australia, where Margot is from.
During the Barbie campaign, Tom was alongside Margot basically every step of the film’s insane press tour. But you might not have spotted him because he was usually bobbing around in the background wearing a pink cap disguise.

And Tom wasn’t just there to support Margot, he was actually a producer on Barbie and has also worked on other huge films like Emerald Fennell’s first feature Promising Young Woman, and Craig Gillespie’s I, Tonya, which also starred Margot.
Aside from being husband and wife, Margot and Tom collab together a lot because they actually run a production company together in Los Angeles called Lucky Chap Productions. They’ve also produced Birds of Prey and and the the Hulu TV series Dollface.

But, although Tom is now fully inside Hollywood’s film world, he’s actually a bit of a posh boy from Surrey at his core. He grew up in Guilford and went at Godalming College with Annabelle Apsion and Made in Chelsea’s Lucy Watson. Figures.
And, like all good Surrey boys, Tom and Margot used to live in a five-bedroom shared house together in Clapham (Margot’s Tarzan co-star Alexander Skarsgård said it had a “kind of frat house vibe”) and were never not spending their weekends in the hell-hole heavenly club that is Infernos. Obviously, they’ve since moved to a $2.7 million dollar house in Los Angeles. So, no more nights out on sticky carpets for them – hopefully.
