Missing 13-year-old found in Manchester city centre after eight day search

A 13-year-old girl who disappeared from Bolton has been found in Manchester city centre after an eight-day search.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed tonight (Saturday 19th September) the teenager was now with officers after a number of reported sightings across Greater Manchester.

Lillia was last seen by her family at her home in Bolton on Friday 11th September. Officers made repeated appeals for information as they worked to establish where Lillia had gone.

One of the key developments came on Monday 14th September when CCTV captured Lillia at Manchester Piccadilly bus station at around 10.36am.

Police had also received information that she was seen getting onto a number 36 bus from Salford earlier that morning.

The sighting led officers to focus their search on Manchester city centre, with members of the public being asked to look out for the teenager.

Hundreds of leaflets were distributed alongside an advertising van displaying Lilia’s photograph being shown around the city. 

GMP also released CCTV footage of Lillia’s last known sighting as part of its efforts to establish where she had travelled after leaving Bolton.

In a Facebook post the GMP said:

“Thank you to everyone who shared our missing appeal for 13-year-old Lillia…We can confirm that she has been found safe and well in the city centre.”

“She is currently with our officers, and her next-of-kin have been informed of this update. We will release more information in due course.”
