People have stark warning for anyone watching certain scene in Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
It really is a lot
I think it goes without saying that Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story on Netflix isn’t going to be an easy watch. By design, it’s a show about gruesome murders.
But, the obvious death and killing aside, something else has got people talking. And people are saying they wish they’d known this was going to be in the show, so they could have known to look away.
There is a particular scene in episode two of the new show, and that’s what people are issuing warnings about. In the scene, Lizzie Borden and the maid give Mr and Mrs Borden some oysters, in order to poison them. The scene is right at the end of episode two, and ends in, shall we say, a horrific amount of projectile vomiting. It’s a lot.
The warning is clear: If you struggle with emetophobia, the Lizzie Borden series might not be the one for you. Or episode two, at the very least.

What is emetophobia and why should people watching Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story be wary?
Emetophobia is an strong and often debilitating phobia specific to the fear of vomiting, or seeing other people vomit, or feeling nauseated. Basically, if vomit makes you want to vomit even more and you have an actual fear of that, it’s you. It’s actually a very common phobia, and can come on a spectrum of intensities for those who suffer from it.
A Reddit thread has been created in the emetophobia sub , which states: “Warning: do NOT watch the new Monster: Lizzie Borden series on Netflix.” The post was tagged as “potentially triggering”.
It added: “Specifically episode two. An emetophobe’s nightmare…I doubt I will ever not whole-body clench in anxiety during these scenes.”
In the comments, one person said: “I held my ears and covered my head and said ‘let me know when it’s f*cking over’ . Other than that scene? Love the show.” Another added: “Thank you so much for the heads up.”
There you go, now you know that you should probably look away during this scene if you don’t like this sort of thing!
