Inside the vibey life of Lizzie Borden actress Ella Beatty, who has two very famous parents

Monster is back on our Netflix screens with The Lizzie Borden Story, and its titular actress, Ella Beatty, is actually a nepo baby with very famous parents. 

After The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and last year’s The Ed Gein Story, Ryan Murphy is controversially expanding his Monster universe with Lizzie Borden. 

Though not as well-known as the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer and Ed Gein, the story of Lizzie Borden’s life is just as gripping. She was accused of axe murdering her own parents, Andrew and Abby Borden, in 1892, but was acquitted by an all-male jury the following year. 

Up-and-coming actress Ella Beatty is playing the woman herself, so here’s what we know about her. 

First off, who are Ella Beatty’s famous parents?

As the name suggests, Ella Beatty is the daughter of iconic throwback heartthrob Warren Beatty and his equally talented wife, actress Annette Bening. 

“I totally acknowledge that there is an inherent privilege and exposure that comes from having well-known actors as parents,’ she told Vogue in 2024. “And I really hope that I can offer something meaningful.”

We love a nepo baby who acknowledges the privilege that comes with famous parents. 

Ella basically grew up on movie sets, so moving into acting was a natural evolution for her. She began by taking part in community theatre productions of The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. 

“I don’t know anything else. I have no other context for the world,” she said. “But my parents are the most loving, supportive, incredible artists.”

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is Ella Beatty’s first major starring role, but she has popped up a number of times in the past few years. 

Her debut film was If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, a black comedy starring huge names like Rose Byrne, Christian Slater, and ASAP Rocky.

Does she have a boyfriend/girlfriend? 

Ella Beatty has not publicly confirmed a relationship, or whether she’s even straight, so we don’t know much about her dating life. 

Despite that, there were some hilarious rumours on the internet during the 2026 Tony Awards. Sarah Paulson, who is also in this season’s Monster, was pictured holding hands with Ella. Most people understood it was a mentor-like sort of love, but the internet still questioned whether they were dating. Sarah Paulson has been with Holland Taylor for over a decade now. 

At the same time, there were even rumours about Ella cracking on with her theatre co-star, Hugh Jackman. Random, I know. 

“It has raised alarm bells over his relationship with Sutton, and people worry that Hugh might not be as all-in as he’s been saying,” a source told the National Enquirer last year.
