Who is Joanna Wietrzyk? The 24-year-old athlete at the centre of the HYROX soiling scandal

She’s made history in her career

Right now, the most viral news story is that of Joanna Wietrzyk: Who soiled herself during a HYROX event. The unfortunate videos of her, with poo running down her legs, are quite literally everywhere.

Joanna Wietrzyk chose to battle through having soiled herself, and won the indoor endurance circuit, competing in the elite group as part of the 16-24 age category, in Beijing over the weekend. HYROX has since apologised over what happened, as people called it out as “disgusting” and it’s created an entire scandal around the rules and regulations at such events

Despite what happened,  Joanna won the women’s solo event with a time of 61 minutes and 23 seconds. So, who is Joanna Wietrzyk? Here’s what we know about her.
