Neighbour brutally kills mother and her teenage daughter in Missouri over noise complaint

A neighbour in Missouri has allegedly shot dead a mother and teenage daughter he lived across the street from over an ongoing noise complaint.

73-year-old Robert Winkelman went over to his neighbour’s home in House Springs, Missouri, on 25th July to complain about the noise, and they got into an argument.

He then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot 38-year-old mother Jessica Lashley in the head. Her 17-year-old daughter, Jersey Greer, rushed over to help, and Winkelman allegedly shot her in the head too. When police arrived at the scene and confronted the 73-year-old, he also shot himself.

“According to the investigation, Winkelman walked down the street to a neighbour’s residence and began questioning those present about activities at the residence. Following a comment made by a 38-year-old female, Winkelman allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot her in the head,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“The victim’s 17-year-old daughter attempted to provide first aid to her mother and was then allegedly shot in the head as well. A third person was allegedly chased by Winkelman while he was armed with the firearm but was not shot. As deputies arrived and information was rapidly coming in, they learned that Winkelman was outside his residence. When deputies approached and confronted him, Winkelman shot himself in the head.”

Lashley and Greer were taken to hospital, where they sadly died two days later. Winkelman was in custody at a local hospital in a critical condition for more than a week, but died on 2nd August.

Before he passed away, Winkelman was charged with two counts of Assault in the First Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said. He had “ongoing frustrations” regarding activities at the neighbour’s house, investigators claimed.
