Influencer’s eerie final TikTok before being found dead with husband and two children
Authorities believe the family was murdered after discovering their bodies in a pickup truck
An influencer posted an eerie final TikTok before she was found dead alongside her husband and two children.
The body of Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, 32, was discovered alongside her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36, and their two children, Gael Santiago, 13, and Regina, seven.
The family were found inside an abandoned pickup truck in Mexico on Friday 22nd August, with their identities only confirmed by police last Thursday (28th August), Metro reports.
Believing the family were murdered, police have now launched a hunt for the people who killed them. The city’s area has prominent links to the notorious Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
Known as Esmeralda FG online, the TikTok star had over 42,000 followers and more than half a million likes across the platform, with videos often featuring lifestyle and travel content.
Esmeralda also posted lip syncs, including to “narcocorrido” songs. These are ballads in traditional Mexican style, whose lyrics detail the exploits of drug traffickers. These videos have attracted further attention from fans in light of her death, which some now interpret as an eerie premonition.
The influencer’s videos often displayed luxury items from brands like Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci, and Versace. Exclusive holiday destinations, expensive cars, and clips featuring her son, daughter, and their Pomeranian dogs were also posted to her feed.
In a final upload to TikTok before her death, Esmeralda appears to film herself driving around her housing estate. The caption reads “From My Little Ranch” alongside a laughing emoji, as the influencer spins the wheel to the tune of a Spanish song.

Typed over the video are the words, translated from Spanish: “Him: What neighbourhood do you live in? Me: Watching the message from my dirt road neighbourhood and it’s almost full of puddles because it rained”.

News of the influencer’s death spread quickly amongst her fan base, and comments have since flooded her videos. Many users are focusing on the death of Esmeralda’s children: “The kids – what was their fault?”, wrote one, as another typed “RIP the kids, and she was so beautiful to leave so soon”.
The Guadalajara area had only been the family’s home for a few months, after they moved there for work-related opportunities. Roberta farmed tomatoes as well as trading vehicles in their hometown, Michoacán.

Investigators had tracked the pickup truck’s location using CCTV footage, which led them to a mechanic’s workshop nearby.
Two people who worked in the shop were taken in for questioning but later released due to insufficient evidence.
But as the potential witnesses left the prosecutor’s office and met up with another two individuals, the group were ambushed by armed men, unaffiliated with police forces. Three were abducted, whilst the fourth managed to escape.
The three abducted men have not yet been accounted for and the fourth is being sought by police for a statement.
Prosecutor Blanca Trujillo said: “Investigations show the perpetrators had been watching the exit for over two hours.
“It wasn’t an immediate attack – they waited until the group had moved a few metres before carrying out the abduction.”
Speaking about the discovery of Esmeralda and her family’s bodies, prosecutor Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán said: “The scene was processed, and investigators found multiple pieces of evidence suggesting the family was killed there.
“While the forensic results are not yet in, ballistic and blood evidence almost certainly confirm they were murdered at that location.”
