London ranked one of the UK’s most fame-hungry cities
Only one other city beat London for the top spot
A new survey has dropped revealing the UK’s most fame-hungry cities.
London has taken second place, showing just how obsessed our city is with celebrity culture and reality TV.
The survey by Pink Casino questioned 1,500 UK adults (aged 18 plus), exploring their television habits and how far they would go if it meant they would be guaranteed fame.
One of the standout questions was whether respondents would appear on Channel 4’s notoriously revealing dating show, Naked Attraction, if it meant they would become “instantly famous”.
A staggering 53 per cent of Londoners responded with a resounding “yes” to this question, placing our fame-hungry capital in second place, just behind the winning city by a mere one per cent. And, it was none other than Bristol that topped the list, with 54 per cent of its residents saying they would bare it all for guaranteed fame.
This makes it official: Bristol is the UK’s most fame-hungry city, with London only a fraction behind.
The top 10 cities most willing to strip down for fame are:
- Bristol – 54 per cent
- London – 53 per cent
- Birmingham – 51 per cent
- Wrexham – 50 per cent
- Sunderland – 50 per cent
- Southampton – 49 per cent
- Cambridge – 47 per cent
- Cardiff – 46 per cent
- Manchester – 46 per cent
- Plymouth – 42 per cent

These results show us that fame – especially the huge and instant type of attention bestowed upon reality TV stars – really entices the majority of people across the UK, especially in its major cities.
The survey didn’t stop at Naked Attraction, though. Participants were also asked broader questions about their preferences when it comes to reality TV, including which shows they’d most like to appear on and which game shows they believed were the easiest to win.
Although the full survey gives us more information than London just being the runner-up city for fame-grabbing, the fact that over half of respondents in most major cities are considering reality TV as a path to stardom reveals how the idea of fame has shifted in modern Britain. Shows like Love Island, Big Brother, and The Only Way is Essex have blurred the lines between celebrity and civilian life, making fame seem more achievable than ever before.
London’s second place ranking clearly reflects the city’s deep-rooted connections to media, entertainment, and influencer culture, all things that thrive in our capital. We can only assume our great London Town is too filled with Canary Wharf finance bros, East London creatives and undercover Hampstead Heath nepotism babies to reach first place and beat Bristol. Still, the fact remains: The majority of people in the UK are not only willing, but eager, to trade their privacy for publicity.
