Here’s why viral video of Katy Perry threatening to kick fan out of gig isn’t what it seems

‘If you keep DMing my man I’m going to have you removed’

I honestly feel like we cannot go a day without something ridiculous happening to Katy Perry, to her tour, or both. It’s been a weird old year for Katy Perry after her latest album 143 flopped beyond belief – with both critics and even the commercial public completely panning it and it being the biggest failure of a career mostly marked by hits. It’s been peculiar to watch, but one video going viral right now which shows Katy Perry threatening to remove fan from her gig is not actually what it seems – and here’s why you need a bit more context to look deeper and realise she’s not always in the middle of chaotic drama and some of it is actually very calculated. And kinda ingenious!

‘If you keep DMing my man I’m going to have you removed’

A video has started going viral of Katy Perry on the Lifetimes tour where people think she’s calling out a fan for continuing to DM her husband Orlando Bloom, but it’s not what it seems!

In the video, Katy says “Oh yeah, you, I know why you’re here. Listen, if you keep DMing my man – oh Kyle? I know. You’ve been doing it for months. Ever since the residency. You didn’t come to see me play. If you keep on DMing my man I’m gonna have you removed. Seriously, get your own life. I’m his wife. I don’t want it. I’m his.”

A lot of people on Twitter believed this was legit, with one person saying that Katy Perry “cleared him” – referring to her dragging the fan in the video.

But the context that’s missing here is that actually, Katy Perry is just doing a little skit as the intro to her song I’m His, He’s mine – which is a mid single that she released from 143 that features Doechii. So whilst we do love to clown on the chaotic ways of Katy Perry, we can let her off on this one – she hadn’t actually threatened to seriously remove the fan, it’s just part of the tour!
