Ed Sheeran surprises fans with Sheffield city centre performance
He performed some of his top hits
Ed Sheeran has surprised hundreds of fans in Sheffield this evening at a DJ set on the streets of the city centre.
Sheeran – who is the UK’s tenth best-selling artist of all time – appeared alongside DJ AG at the top of Fargate shortly after 7pm.
An hour earlier, he had posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story which read “Sheffield Town Hall, 7pm” with DJ AG tagged below.

The performance was live streamed by DJ AG to his 926k followers on TikTok, where he has also recently collaborated on live street performances with M People’s Heather Small and England footballer Declan Rice.
As hundreds of fans flocked to the crowd to catch a glimpse of the set, Sheeran performed versions of his number one singles Shivers, Shape of You, and I Don’t Care.
One TikTok user commented: “Didn’t have Ed Sheeran performing on the streets of Sheffield on my 2025 bingo card.”
The artist is becoming renowned for his surprise performances, having recently popped up at King’s Cross Station in London, in New Orleans, and at schools in Cardiff and Edinburgh.
British rapper and younger brother of Skepta, Jme, also performed. As did emerging artist Maja-M.
