Sheffield podcast festival Crossed Wires returns with stellar lineup

Crossed Wires had its first event last summer

A podcast festival based in Sheffield will be coming back to the city this summer, with a huge list of stars on the bill.

Crossed Wires will be holding events all around city from the 4th to the 6th July, with BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James now also joining the team as creative director.

Greg said: “”I came last year to Crossed Wires and loved it so much that I wanted to get involved in a bigger way this year:I love Sheffield and I’ve always enjoyed spending time there.

“One thing I really love about this is, not only are we bringing huge podcast names from all over the world to Sheffield, but we want to make sure it leaves a legacy and that we create the podcast stars of the future both off-air and on-air.”

Crossed Wires debut in 2023 had comedians like Katherine Ryan, Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis take to city halls stage to celebrate all things podcast.

This year will see popular pods like Dish from Waitrose, featuring Angela Harneet and Nick Grmishaw, and Drunk Women Solving Crime headlining the festival.

Help I Sexted My Boss, a podcast from friends William Hanson, “a posh etiquette expert”, and Capital Breakfast host Jordan North, “an expert in all things common”), has already sold out their Saturday spot.

Alice Levine, co-founder Crossed Wires, said: “Year one of Crossed Wires showed us that people are desperate for the kind of connection and community that they feel with music festivals, with podcasts.

“So, we’ve put together another line up of blockbuster names to perform live for 2025 – including Dish from Waitrose, Tailenders, Paul C. Brunson, Richard Herring – and combined that with after parties, platforms for newer voices and we have a surprise or two to come too!”

James O’Hara – an original member of the team behind Tramlines – and Dino Sofos – an award-winning producer and CEO of Persephonica – are the festival’s other co-founders.

The festival promises other special events for Sheffield too, promising “a weekend of live shows, never-seen-before performances, special guests, DJ sets, Q&As and fan events”.
