Sheff is absolutely spoiling us with live music over the next few months, and if you’re not taking advantage, what are you even doing? Forget saving money, forget your looming deadlines – this city is packed with unreal gigs, and you need to be there.
Whether you’re after indie anthems, 2000s nostalgia, or just an excuse to get tipsy and scream your heart out, there’s something for everyone.
From intimate sets at The Leadmill to huge nights at Utilita Arena (yes, Olly Murs is on this list, and yes, you should go), consider this your ultimate guide to the must-see gigs leading up to summer.
The Lathums: 18/03
Wigan-based indie-rock band The Lathums are heading to The Octagon this March, blessing us with music from their new album Matter Does Not Define, out 7th March – undoubtedly alongside their most popular tunes.
Known for their anthemic sound and heartfelt lyrics, their live shows are always packed with energy, making this a must-see gig for Sheffield students.
Overpass: 27/03
Hailing from Birmingham, this up-and-coming band is making waves with their unique blend of indie-rock and alternative sounds.
They’ll be touring their new album, Dependent, set to be released on the 28th February, making a stop to our very own SU at the Foundry. Make sure you turn up – you’ll want to catch them live before they blow up.
Inhaler 18/04
Inhaler at The Leadmill? Yep, you read that right – these sexy Irish lads are hitting the stage at the same spot where we used to get absolutely plastered as freshers every Friday.

The band has skyrocketed in popularity over the past year, supporting huge names like Harry Styles, Sam Fender, and Sheffield royalty, Arctic Monkeys.

Razorlight: 27/04
2000s indie legends, Razorlight, are taking over Foundry, bringing their iconic sound and classic hits like America and Golden Touch. Expect a night full of nostalgia, as they’ll also be playing tracks from their latest album Planet Nowhere, released last year.
The Waterboys: 09/05
I don’t know about you, but The Whole of The Moon has been a staple for every single one of my family parties since birth, so getting to scream it live in my drunk state sounds essential really.
The legendary Scottish group are gearing up to release their new album, Life, Death and Dennis Hopper, on 4th April, so get streaming and get ready for a night of timeless classics.
Olly Murs: 10/05
If your Year 6 disco had a soundtrack, chances are Olly Murs was on it. This May, he’s bringing his feel-good pop anthems to Sheffield’s Utilita Arena, and let’s be honest – whether you’ve moved on to more underground indie artists or not, you can’t deny the man has some absolute bangers.
Troublemaker, Wrapped Up – such classics. And so, prime X-Factor fans, expect a night of pure nostalgia and a crowd of middle-aged mums living their best lives.
Supergrass: 12/05
Nearly 30 years after the release of their iconic debut album I Should Coco, Supergrass are back to perform it live in its entirety for the first time ever.
Fans can also expect a set filled with their biggest hits, including Alright – the unmistakable anthem that soundtracked countless 2000s romcoms. Catch them live at the Octagon for a night of Britpop brilliance.
Bradley Simpson: 13/05
Attention, The Vamps fans! The voice behind our favourite childhood boyband (or second favourite to the 1D fan girls) is paving his way as a solo artist.
The band’s frontman is set to perform his debut album, The Panic Years, live at The Leadmill – fingers crossed for a nostalgic throwback to Can We Dance as well.

Has anyone else been obsessed with this queen since Saltburn and her epic career revival? The Murder on the Dancefloor singer is coming to Sheffield City Hall this June!

Tramlines Festival: 25 /06 – 27/ 06
It’s basically an unwritten rule that every student in Sheffield should make their way to this incredible festival right on their doorstep. So why not soak up a few extra days of Sheffield sunshine this summer and head to Hillsborough Park for an unreal lineup?
With massive acts like Pulp, Kasabian, Rizzle Kicks, The Last Dinner Party, and more, it’d be a shame not to grab your uni mates and make some lovely memories.
