Inside theory Katy Perry scrapped astronaut theme from her tour after space trip flopped

Katy Perry landed back on earth after her 10 minute long space trip and crashed into starting her much maligned Lifetimes tour – the big production supporting one of the most momentous flops and falls from grace in pop culture history. The album wasn’t good to start with, and you don’t have to look very hard to find people dunking on the tour either. Whether it’s claims that her heart isn’t really in it or that Katy Perry is using AI visuals instead of actual footage shot by creators, it’s been woe after woe – and now there’s one theory on TikTok that a major part of the show got scrapped after she was dragged during the response to the Blue Origin space trip she took part in earlier this month.

I’m no conspiracy theorist – but it actually makes a lot of sense.

The TikTok theory suggests that Katy Perry had actually planned for her Lifetimes tour, supporting the album 143, to have a theme referencing heavily her trip to space with Blue Origin. Creator Catherine Hates theories “Katy Perry was going to come out in her blue astronaut suit. I bet that’s what happened. She was going to have the daisy, that’s why she was wearing the tight jumpsuit, and she was going to come out dancing like that. They probably had a whole rocket thing but then at the last minute the team thought they’d have to change it.

But they couldn’t change everything because a lot of it is high budget stuff. And so they had to leave in the moon hanging in the sky and some of the spacey references. But they got rid of the aliens and swapped in robots. Forget the daisy, use the lightsaber.

The clips going viral of the Katy Perry Lifetimes tour have been critical of her stage presence and choreography, so last minute changes after the space backlash would make sense.

People responded negatively after the Blue Origin space stunt as it was believed to be very unattainable for the every day person – and a slight vanity project for the rich and famous.
