Katy Perry reveals what she ‘regrets’ about her space trip after facing major backlash

It was only a matter of time

There aren’t many weeks where we can say we watched a pop singer get launched into space and back in the space of 11 minutes. It’s more than crazy, and it seems that Katy Perry has finally cottoned onto that too.

Whilst Katy was originally on a high after becoming an “astronaut” earlier this week, the reality of being back on earth has clearly set in and she’s finally regretting a lot about the whole ordeal.

The expedition, which saw an all female fleet of women get launched into space and back, was ridiculed and branded as “tone deaf” by viewers. Others called it “disgusting”, with a number of memes about the space mission taking over X.

And now a source has since told Daily Mail that whilst Katy “doesn’t regret going to space”, she does regret a lot of her behaviour on the mission – and the huge media spectacle it became.

They revealed: “Katy doesn’t regret going to space. It was life changing. What she does regret is making a public spectacle out of it.” But… wasn’t that the only point?

During the flight, viewers across the world watched as Katy stared down the barrel of the camera with her daisy, and used the opportunity to promote her upcoming Lifetimes tour by showing off the setlist while floating in microgravity.

On her return to earth, Katy was arguably the most emotional of the group, emerging from the Blue Origin capsule and raising the daisy flower to the sky. Viewers lost it at her odd behaviour, when she climbed down the stairs to kneel on the ground and kiss the soil.

And it seems that Katy is finally embarrassed about her lip lock with the ground, as well as her “close up camera moments” inside the capsule.

The source said the singer “regrets sharing the daisy with the world” and now “wishes the video footage from inside the pod was never shown.” Me too, actually.

It took a few days, but it seems that Katy has finally returned to reality and is in agreement that the trip was extremely extra and honestly? Quite unnecessary.

In her post space trip interview, Katy spoke a lot about being “super connected to love” and raved about “a collective energy in there”.

“It’s about us. It’s about making space for future women and taking up space and belonging.

“And it’s about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating it. This is all for the benefit of earth.”

Despite her poetic words, it’s clear the singer now regrets how big of a deal the expedition became and the backlash it received, including her eccentric behaviour that was broadcast all over the world.
