Inside the Blue Origin space flight conspiracy theory that claims the whole thing was fake
They think it was Black Mirror simulation
On Monday, the 14th, Blue Origin made history with its all-female crewed space flight mission. It sent six women into the mesosphere aboard its New Shepard rocket. The mission, which lasted only 11 minutes and reached an altitude of 62 miles, was both criticised and seen as a milestone for gender equality and space exploration. But as with most high-profile events these days, the internet was quick to flood the scene with conspiracy theories. Here’s why it thinks the entire mission was a sham.
‘No flight suits, no helmets, no video’
For a mission as high profile as this one with Katy Perry going to space, some people expected more transparency. One X (formerly Twitter) user didn’t hold back: “The Blue Origin Ladies’ Flight was FAKE!” Another chimed in with a bullet-point breakdown of everything they thought was wrong: “Annnnnddd… • No flight suits • No helmets • No video of them before or during launch. And many more things that show this was fake.”
The blue origin all girl space flight was 100% fake.
This is what re entry does to anything that goes into space.
Also, they don’t land some exact place, in the desert, with a bunch of people waiting https://t.co/zaqCnLlyhN— A. Whitewolfe (@Whitew0lfe777) April 16, 2025
Shortly after touchdown, yet another user brought up the mysterious rocket door moment: “There’s another video before Bezos opens the door. The door was opened from inside by one of the fake astronauts. A lady walks over and quickly tells them to close it.”

Someone else echoed the claim, adding: “There is a video prior to him opening it where they opened the door from the inside earlier and had a ‘not yet’ moment.”
‘Maybe it goes deeper… like, Black Mirror deeper’
As always, the theories didn’t stop at poor wardrobe choices. One person theorised that the mission might have been simulated, and the crew didn’t even know it. They said, “Maybe it goes deeper, and ‘the crew’ really thinks they went to space but it was simulated.” And if that sounds like an episode of Black Mirror, that’s exactly what they compared it to. Another post tried to play it cooler, but still questioned the significance of the mission itself: “It’s not fake. It’s just not a big deal. It’s Bezos’ company. His trophy wife got first dibs and brought her Hollywood clout friends.”
#BREAKING various media outlets now reporting the #BlueOrigin mission was staged.
Sources close to the mission are stating that this was more of a protest towards the current administration
It’s currently circulating the rumor mill that they may have parachuted down at most!?! https://t.co/Rxb1EdGpIf

One user summed it up bluntly, calling the crew “glorified cargo on 1950s technology” and claiming they only made it to the mesosphere—“not space.”
And yes, there’s a satanic angle too
Because it wouldn’t be a proper internet conspiracy without someone yelling “satanic ritual” from the digital rooftops. Some users pointed to the mission patch worn by Katy Perry and the crew, claiming it resembled the figure of Baphomet when flipped upside down.
🚨#BREAKING BLUE ORGIN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES an all FEMALE ELITE CREW but what is BAPHOMET?
Baphomet is an invention, a false god whose appearance isn’t even documented until fairly recent times. Contemporary depictions of Baphomet include a goat’s head on a human body with male… pic.twitter.com/IwwG9DwtZM

One post read, “Did you notice the logo on Katy Perry and her fellow Blue Origin space travellers’ patch is the satanic goat with an upside-down cross if you flip it over?” Others said the mission was “mocking God,” suggesting this wasn’t science, it was a ritual. Another user even referenced Perry’s old E.T. music video where she had goat legs, because of course they did.
However, Blue Origin explained that the patch was filled with personal symbols: A firework for Katy Perry, a microphone for Gayle King, a film reel for Kerianne Flynn, and so on. Nothing goat-related. But that hasn’t stopped the theories from flying.
At this point, the only thing flying higher than the Blue Origin rocket is the speculation.
