Update as MAFS Australia 2025’s Tony suffers scary heart attack and has life-saving surgery

Ryan went to visit him in the hospital

Tony Mojanovski from MAFS Australia 2025 has suffered a heart attack just six months after the show finished filming, and fellow cast member Ryan Donnelly has shared an update from the hospital after he had life-saving surgery.

The 53-year-old was rushed to Wollongong Hospital on Thursday morning (24th April) after experiencing chest pains, and he underwent emergency surgery later that same day.

He had to have a heart bypass, a very serious life-saving surgery that clears a blockage in your heart and restores blood flow. Tony is thankfully recovering well and due to leave the hospital on Monday (28th April).

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia after the surgery, he said: “Luckily I went straight to the doctors. During the week I wasn’t feeling well. It has been happening for a long time – I was just feeling not right, like something was on my chest every now and then, giving me heartburn and stuff like that.”

“I felt a bit off too. That’s why I thought, you know what, I’m going to take it easy this week because it was just too much,” he continued.

Tony said the whole thing was “pretty scary” because his mum also died from an aneurysm, a bulge in the major blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the body, so the heart issues could be genetic.

However, he thinks his partying lifestyle could have contributed, adding: “I was smoking, the cigarettes, the stress, being on the boat, partying – just too many things. It caught up with me, mate. I just need some time without the partying.”

In the latest update, fellow MAFS Australia star Ryan went to visit Tony in his hospital room and has shared a video of the surprise on Instagram.

“Just here to surprise my best mate. Tony time,” he said while walking over to the hospital bed. Tony was actually on the phone to Adrian at the time, so they have all kept in touch.

In another clip filmed by Ryan, Tony shared an update, saying: “Last week I had a bit of a scare and I just wanted to say a big thank you to the people of Wollongong Hospital, the people in the cardiac division they’ve been absolutely amazing.”

“I am wired up as you can see, just checking things on my heart I’m going to be here until Monday. But just a big big thank you to all the people in the Wollongong Hospital, they’re amazing especially the doctor who operated on me.”
