People think Timothee Chalamet inspired Kylie’s iconic ‘rise and shine’ clip – here’s why

Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s relationship has been public for two years, but her iconic ‘rise and shine’ video waking daughter Stormi up may have been inspired by her beau. People have only just discovered that Timothee used the phrase in an old photo caption on social media, which took place before Kylie took it in her stride.

Timothee Chalamet shared a photo in 2018 with a “rise and shine” caption. The post was uploaded by Timothee on Boxing Day that year, which consisted of a photo of a building that said, “Peace to the world,” as well as a sunny selfie in a car wing mirror, a news headline reading, “Yankee Stadium food is dirtiest in MLB,” a random blue fuzzy image, and a sunset view through a plane window.

Although Timothee and Kylie weren’t together yet, he was known to be friends with her sister, Kendall Jenner, at the time. However, Timothee and Kylie never met until 2023, and she was still dating Travis Scott at the end of 2018, before their eventual break-up in October 2019. They later got back together but broke up again in 2021.

Loads of people basically think the old caption was foreshadowing and manifesting his current relationship with Kylie. The timing does weirdly match up though, as Kylie’s iconic “rise and shine” video was released the following year, in October 2019 – just when she split from her baby father, who she shares children Stormi and Wolf Webster with.

Kylie created a video in which she woke up her daughter, Stormi, and sang a simple lullaby with the words, “Rise and shine.” It became the fastest TikTok video to reach one billion views, and quickly went viral. She still jokes to this day that she’s the “creator of rise and shine”! In fact, she sold two rise and shine merchandise hoodies, which sold out in minutes.

In the video, she told cameras, “Okay, we’re going to wake Stormi up and get out of here and show you guys her room.” Even now, the meme is constantly used, with some people even commenting a gif of the memorable moment underneath Timothee’s “rise and shine” Instagram post. What a strange coincidence!

As part of Kylie’s intellectual property strategy, she even trademarked the phrase. Since then, she’s inspired many music covers and shared a photo of her face in the sun. Plus, the literal two-minute song has been released on Spotify. So yeah, you could say it’s pretty legitimate.
