All the jarring British things Kylie Jenner had to contend with at the Baftas last night

Kylie Jenner witnessing live Gary Barlow vocals feels illegal

The Baftas is always cause for pop cultural celebration. Not just because it’s an amazing night of the year where truly excellent films receive the recognition they deserve, but because funny things always happen at the Baftas. Yesterday for example marked two full years since Ariana DeBose gifted the world her weird “Angela Bassett did the thing” song – which amused me greatly when I read the Wikipedia entry about this and it said something along the lines of how, to this day, the thing which Angela Bassett did remains a cause for contention. Legendary moments are born, and this year’s legendary moment is the fact Kylie Jenner was in attendance and had to witness a jarring amount of British culture at the Baftas. Definitely not in Calabasas anymore.

Kylie Jenner was of course in attendance because she’s in a relationship with Timothée Chalamet – nominated for his work in The Great Unknown. But this is what happens when you have an actor fella – you have to come to the UK and be greeted with the likes of Take That.

Here are all the jarring British things Kylie Jenner had to contend with at the Baftas.

Take That

Anora did the impossible with its usage of Greatest Day: Made Take That sound good. The absolute crap remix of the already naff song is so bad that it becomes good – especially with how Sean Baker used it in Anora. Kylie Jenner witnessing the live vocals of Gary Barlow is fever dream levels previously unknown. This is MY idea of a very nice day out.

Speaking to David Tennant

Just two people you never expect to interact, really. In a moment where Tennant joked about the Chalamet lookalike competitions, he also implied Kylie Jenner was a lookalike and she tries to joke back (quite awkwardly). It’s surreal.

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)

Can you imagine Kylie Jenner belting out the DA DA DA DA like she’s at a family wedding? Feels surreal. Magical, however.

Wallace and Gromit

Wallace and Gromit won big last night, which means Kylie Jenner was face to face with the most British cultural thing I could think of. Do yanks laugh at Wallace and Gromit? Probably not. Kylie Jenner perceiving the evil of Feathers McGraw is for the ages.
