Kourtney Kardashian has always been less willing to film The Kardashians, unlike her sisters. Khloe revealed her sister almost quit during season 6, but said her sister Kim – who we all know gets on her nerves quite often – somehow managed to talk her out of it. So, how many times has Kourtney tried to walk away from the reality show?

Kourtney almost quit season six

Kourtney almost quit during filming for The Kardashians last year. Filming took place in early 2024, when Kim had to talk Kourtney out of leaving the show. Khloe told E! News: “It was not my doing and I think I was a little baby and I wasn’t involved for that because somehow I’m always in the middle of them. I’m like, ‘I don’t have a dog in this fight, I’m good.’”

She was hoping to maybe retire as a consequence of her feud with Kim, in which Khloe said: “I was terrified for Kim to even have that conversation with her. I think it was all Kim—I don’t think I had anything to do with it. I think I was a baby and hid.” Luckily, Kourtney has not left, but did say she doesn’t want to still be doing the show when she’s 50 years old.

“We’re sisters,” Kourtney shared in a confessional during the last season of The Kardashians. “I think people forget. They always say like, ‘How are they gonna get through it?’ and they pick sides. Everyone gets really riled up.” Khloe has referred to her sisters as “sweepers,” who often sweep things under the rug even if there’s underlying tension there.

During the show’s infamous Christmas card photoshoot, Kourtney said in 2018 that she’d leave KUWTK if she had enough money. Her plan was that, if she had enough dollar, she’d just become a full-time mother, during an argument about the festive activity with her family. She said: “If I had enough money, I wouldn’t work. I wouldn’t do the show. I would be a full time mom. That’s what I want to do.

“The guilt that I carry every day from not being at home when they get from school, not doing homework — my kids suffer,” Kourtney added. During an appearance on The Real, Kourtney was asked whether she finds Kylie’s wealth intimidating. And she responded: “Probably subconsciously it makes us feel like, ‘When’s it enough?'”

Appearing to refer to fame and money, she continued: “And that’s a thing I always think to myself — ‘When is it enough?’ Because I don’t like missing out on certain things like doing my kids’ homework or certain after school activities or different things like that.” Kourtney also said she’d been seriously considering quitting the show for good, like her brother Rob Kardashian.

Kourtney took a step back in 2019

Kourtney said she no longer wanted to film during the Keeping Up With The Kardashians season 17 finale. She told her mom Kris Jenner, “I need a break, and I don’t want to film anymore,” before admitting she was at “breaking point” on the show. After years of saying she wants to quit the show, Kourtney then revealed she’s decided to step away for a while, to focus on her kids.

She called her family “disgusting,” said they were too focused on money and claimed their values no longer aligned with hers. Kourtney said: “You guys just have really different values than me. I choose to be a mother to my three kids. What’s natural to me is being a mother. I’m not here looking for another job.”

Kourtney went on: “When you die and when I die, it doesn’t matter how much money is in our bank accounts. It’s about memories. But [money is more important] to you, and I don’t give a f***.” She also told them she “can’t wait” for the day she can stop faking her relationships with her sisters for TV and can finally leave.

Everyone remembers the fight with Kim over the Dolce & Gabbana deal. Kourtney had the luxury brand design her wedding dress, but Kim was in talks to launch a brand deal with them, and when Kourtney found out she’d treated her special day with now-husband Travis Barker as a “business meeting,” she was absolutely raging.

Kourtney was told Kim and her friends had been discussing her behavior in a group chat, which aired on The Kardashians – but Kourtney is adamant she had no idea the argument was being filmed for the series. She told Kim to stop speaking to her – but of course, they’re sisters, and they patched things up pretty soon afterwards.
